CLEVELAND – January 7, 2019 – Dix & Eaton announced today that senior vice president Amy McGahan has been promoted to managing director.
McGahan, who joined the firm in 1997, is a member of the firm’s leadership committee and a seasoned communications professional and client counselor with more than 20 years of experience in public relations, specializing in media relations, crisis communications, media/communications training, and event management and promotion.
“We’re exceptionally pleased and proud to announce the promotion of Amy McGahan to the position of managing director. She is such a skilled practitioner and advisor, and consistently stands out as a senior leader that cares deeply about the success of our clients while also embodying the collaborative values of our firm,” said Chas Withers, Dix & Eaton chief executive officer. “Throughout her career, she’s always shown the ability to take on highly complex business challenges, to provide foresight and insight on solutions and the right ‘path ahead,’ to role-model leadership for others both inside our firm and out in the community, and she’s done all of those things while maintaining a supremely positive attitude and engaging personal style that inspires others.”
McGahan counsels clients on national, international and regional media relations strategy and execution, with particular emphasis on helping clients navigate high-stakes and high-profile crisis situations and issues. She also regularly coaches senior executives on improving presentation styles and preparing for media interviews. In her new position, McGahan will continue leading critical client engagements – often focused on change management, maximizing strategic opportunities or mitigating challenges – but will also have expanded responsibilities in business development, stewarding firm leadership priorities and mentoring others.
“I look forward to contributing to further growing the firm’s strong capability in developing and implementing new media strategies for our clients to reflect the ever-shifting digital and global media landscape,” McGahan said. “Change is such a constant for all of our clients, and one of the most exciting things for me personally is partnering with diverse and innovative thinkers like we have at Dix & Eaton to drive results for clients during volatile and unpredictable times.”
McGahan was recently elected to president of the Press Club of Cleveland board of trustees and serves as a member of the Engage! Cleveland board. She also is an involved with her alma mater, Baldwin Wallace University, where she is an Annual Fund Class Representative.
Prior to joining Dix & Eaton, McGahan was associate director of community relations for the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center and public relations associate for the Eliza Jennings Group. In both positions, she oversaw media relations, employee communications; acted as a liaison with community organizations; conducted community outreach and education; and coordinated special events.
