Dix & Eaton Promotes Three Professionals

CLEVELAND – May 8, 2014 – Dix & Eaton announced today the promotions of three professionals – David Hertz to managing director, Stephanie Harig to account executive and Sarah Hihn to director of human resources.

About David Hertz

Hertz, a former journalist and Pulitzer Prize-winning editor at The Akron Beacon Journal, has also been named to the firm’s Leadership Committee. He has been a member of D&E’s media relations group since joining the firm in 2006, drawing upon 20 years of journalism experience when counseling clients on media relations, media training, crisis communications and corporate communications strategy.

Hertz has assisted such clients as KeyBank, Forest City Enterprises, Parker Hannifin and the Cleveland Plus marketing initiative communicate their stories to journalists around the world. His blog offers commentary on issues affecting traditional and emerging media. He is also on Twitter, @dhertz.

Hertz previously helped lead the Beacon Journal’s coverage of some of the most significant stories that arose during his 15 years at the paper. He also proposed and helped organize the newspaper’s Pulitzer-Prize winning investigation into race relations after the Rodney King-based riots of the 1990s. He served as the newspaper’s business editor as well as metro editor. Earlier in his career, Hertz worked for Knight Ridder’s Boca Raton (Fla.) News for five years. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia as well as a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Virginia.

About Stephanie Harig

Harig is a communications generalist and a member of the firm’s investor relations practice area, where she is a project manager and writer on a variety of activities, including messaging, press releases, annual reports and CSR reports. She also handles corporate communications, employee communications and social media assignments for clients, and is certified in the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G4 sustainability reporting guidelines. Harig joined Dix & Eaton as an assistant account executive in early 2013 after a brief internship. She previously worked as a community organizer in Cleveland. A Cleveland native, Harig returned to the area after spending two years in Washington, D.C., earning a master’s degree from The George Washington University and gaining experience in government relations and communications. While in Washington, she interned for the Girl Scouts of the USA and on Capitol Hill in a Senate office, and worked as a teaching assistant.

Harig graduated cum laude from Miami University, where she studied international studies and German. She also holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy with a concentration in Women’s Studies. She serves on the Junior Board of the International Women’s Air and Space Museum, located in Cleveland.

A member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), Hihn earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Human Resources Management and Labor Relations from Cleveland State University.
