Driving foot traffic to grand opening
DSW – a leading multi-channel branded footwear specialty retailer – partnered with Dix & Eaton to develop a new approach to grand openings, beginning with a new store at Crocker Park in Westlake, Ohio.
D&E utilized social media outlets, media relations tactics and guerrilla marketing to raise awareness for the opening night. Postings on Facebook, Twitter and blogs were combined with local media outreach to let audiences know about the event, while guerrilla marketing tactics were used the day of the event to direct people to the store.
Attendance at the grand opening was among the largest ever for DSW, which planned to employ some of the new tactics in future openings.
