PogueRichard Pogue

From 1957 to 1994, Mr. Pogue was with the international law firm Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue.  During his nine years as Managing Partner of Jones Day (1984-92), the firm grew from 335 to 1,225 lawyers, expanded from five domestic to 20 international offices, and became the second largest law firm in the world.

Mr. Pogue draws upon his background in law and management in advising clients on communications strategy as it relates to such issues as corporate takeovers, shareholder relations, regulatory matters, negotiations, corporate governance issues, institutional image and public relations policy at the executive level.

Mr. Pogue received a B.A. from Cornell University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.  He was a Visiting Professor at Michigan Law School in 1993 and 1994.  From 1954 to 1957 he served in the Patents Division, Office of The Judge Advocate General, Department of the Army (Pentagon).  His legal specialties at Jones Day included antitrust and corporate takeover work.

Mr. Pogue has been active in the business and civic areas in Cleveland and elsewhere:

1. He is a Director of Continental Airlines (Houston), The IT Group (Pittsburgh), and Rotek Incorporated.

2. He is Interim Executive Director of NOCHE (Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education), a consortium of 22 Universities and Colleges in the Region.

3. In the Cleveland civic arena he is Immediate Past Chairman of Business Volunteers Unlimited, University Hospitals Health System, and The City Club of Cleveland.  A former chairman of several major institutions (including the Greater Cleveland Roundtable, The Cleveland Foundation, the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Cleveland Ballet), he currently serves as a Trustee of a number of organizations including Case Western Reserve University.  He is a Life Trustee of United Way in Cleveland and in 1989 chaired the Campaign (which raised a record $51,900,00).

Mr. Pogue and his wife Patricia, who reside in Shaker Heights, have three children and seven grandchildren, all of whom live on the East Coast.
