MEDIA OUTREACH

Challenge:
LVI Services Inc., the nation’s largest environmental and facility services firm, was engaged to demolish and implode Las Vegas’ famed Stardust Casino and Hotel towers. The implosion of the 32-story tower and an adjacent nine-story building was actually the culmination of months of preparatory work by LVI, including asbestos abatement and structural demolition. So, while the 10-second implosion got all the glory, how could LVI tell the story of the entire scope of the project and its role in it?

Solution:
Months in advance of the implosion, Dix & Eaton partnered with LVI and LVI’s client and subcontractor to coordinate messaging, story angles and media outreach.  Dix & Eaton produced press kits containing background on LVI’s role in the project; reached out to local media, national print, broadcast and online outlets and key trade publications; and coordinated media walk-throughs on site and a news package.  Finally, D&E was on site for the event to handle media relations.

Results:
LVI’s story received local, national and international print, broadcast and online media coverage, including an Associated Press story that ran in more than 175 outlets.
